The Story Behind Together in Travel

Advocating for the economic and social contributions of Travel & Tourism at Industry Events
October 9, 2024
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) advocate for Travel & Tourism’s inclusive and sustainable growth potential at major industry events and forums around the world. Our mission is to demonstrate the immense value of the Travel & Tourism, by using our research to spotlight the economic and social contribution of the sector.

WTTC’s annual Global Summit is the main event in the global Travel & Tourism calendar. This unparalleled event draws senior leaders from the public and private sectors from Heads of State and Government Ministers to Chairs and Chief Executives of the world’s most influential Travel & Tourism organisations. Uniting the leading voices of our sector in one place enables us to harness our collective power to shape the future of Travel & Tourism for the better.

During the three-day event, we confront the most pressing issues and exciting opportunities on stage where leaders share knowledge and forge connections to grow the sector sustainably.

Previous keynote speakers have included Former President of the United States, Barak Obama, Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, Actor & Philanthropist Edward Norton, Wildlife Conservationist Robert Irwin and Former U.S Secretary of State John Kerry.

Other Events
Alongside the WTTC Global Summit, WTTC participates in many other key industry events throughout the year as part of its mission to advocate for the social and economic role of Travel & Tourism.

From engaging with Travel & Tourism leaders at trade shows including ITB Berlin (Berlin, Germany) and FITUR (Madrid, Spain) to advocating for policy change and action at the UN Climate Change Conference and UN Biodiversity Conference (COP), WTTC’s presence is felt at events around the globe.

WTTC has also been the voice of the private sector at G20 meetings, from playing an instrumental role in bringing tourism into the official G20 statement for the first time in 2012 to the creation of a dedicated tourism track from 2020, partnering with successive G20 secretariats for over 10 years.

Webinars:
In addition to attending in-person industry events across the world, WTTC hosts a range of informative webinars to support Travel & Tourism organisations in navigating important issues, from Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) to Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In our series of webinars, leaders delve into our research and discuss key learnings and how they can be implemented across the public and private sectors. These webinars are a place for knowledge sharing to empower organisations to take steps towards creating a more sustainable Travel & Tourism sector.
